A terrific, comprehensive history of Cap and Billie and the early days of Tait Lake can be found in Jocelyn Thornton's book "At the End of the Caribou". The book can be purchased through the Cook County Historical society, and all proceeds go back to the Historical Society.
Jocelyn was kind enough to share some of her family photos, including the development of the sawmill and the lodge by Cap and Billie. Several of these appear in the book as well. Scroll through by tapping on the arrow on the side of the first photo.
For some more recent history, attached are copies of the Tait Lake News, published from 1998 to 2010 by Carl Fritsch, long time resident and active member of the Board of Directors and the ARC and Treasurer of the TLA for many years. We are clearly missing several years of the News - so if you have any copies not included below (particularly 1998-2001), please send a digital scan or get us a paper copy and we will add it to the library!
